Nicky Napier
Nicky has worked in the arts for over 25 years and was Head of Dance and Performance at the Southbank Centre in London, working alongside Jude Kelly and other art form leads until 2011. Prior to this she was Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the East Midlands national dance agency Dance4, and Artistic Director of the nottdance festival, where she supported the development and presentation of dance, theatre and cross artform work, often in shared contexts with partners and collaborators both in the UK and overseas.
Other work includes curator and producer for projects with the European Commission, the Hayward Gallery, Yolande Snaith and Rosemary Butcher, and as a senior member of the team that delivered Laban’s award-winning building on Deptford’s Creekside in 2003. In 2009 Nicky was awarded a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Artes et des Lettres (Republique Français), for her services to dance. Nicky trained at the Arts Educational Schools, Trinity Laban, and the Open University, and is about to finish her MA Dramaturgy at Birkbeck College.
Nicky has been back in the UK on a permanent basis since mid 2019, following six years in Australia, where she mostly concentrated on being a full-time mum. She is currently generating and developing new ideas with fellow explorers via the collaborative framework - a meeting place, and is thrilled to be joining Lost Dog’s board as Chair.
