John Kendall
John’s first experience came as a 12 year old being dragged along as moral support for a friend keen to give Breakdancing a try. A love for movement was triggered quickly as I watched our teacher, a rugged Scottish bloke who looked more like a bricklayer move silently on his feet and whirl to a soundtrack of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Dj Shadow and The Sugerhill Gang.
John graduated from the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance in 2010. He then became part of EDge, the postgraduate company of London Contemporary Dance School graduating the following year in 2011.
John engaged in a year long Dance Fellowship with balletLORENT in 2011 following a successful application to the BBC Performing Arts Fund. John made his professional debut with balletLORENT in the 2011 and has been working with the company for over a decade. John has danced for a variety of dance theatre companies and choreographers namely Joan Cleville Dance, Silke Zimmerman, Ray Roa, Robby Graham, Andrew Gardiner, Peter Groom, Douglas Thorpe, Anthony Lo - Giudice. Most recently John has been working in Austria with theatre ensemble Cafe Fuerte.
