Our mission is to create performances that use the temporary community of theatre to connect us to ourselves and to each other.
Our medium is a unique mongrel of dance, theatre and comedy.
Our subject matter is the epic and everyday stories we live and share.
Our belief is that success lies in creating moments of deep empathy whilst also delivering a good night out.
From our home in rural Sussex we create work that is performed in venues from Paris’s Theatre de la Ville to West Coker’s village hall.

For us the theatrical experience is co-created by audience and performers. We use physicality, humour, vulnerability& integrity to connect with engage & entertain our audience.
To realise our mission we divide our activity into two interconnecting halves – Performance and Participation. In both areas we work against cynicism, numbness & separateness and look instead for openness, alertness and connectivity.
We believe that our best chance of making exceptional & accessible work is to dig into ourselves  and help those we work with to do the same.

Lost Dog occupies a unique position in the cultural landscape; drawing in and mixing ideas & audiences from theatre, dance, comedy, circus and storytelling in a way no other company does.
