Raquel Meseguer Zafe
Raquel is a UK based dance theatre practitioner. She identifies as dis-abled, and works with rest and horizontality as creative impulses.
Raquel founded Unchartered Collective in 2016 to create theatrical encounters that explore the lived experience of invisible disability. A Crash Course in Cloudspotting is supported by ACE, Unlimited, Mousonturm, Fabrica, PMStudio and MAYK. In 2019 an iteration of the piece toured Mexico, with British Council support.
Raquel co-founded Lost Dog and was Associate Artist on Paradise Lost, and Juliet & Romeo, as well as Dramaturg on A Tale of Two Cities and Ruination. Raquel writes and delivers our Audio Description on all of our current touring projects.
As a movement director, Raquel has collaborated with director Rachel Bagshaw on The Shape of the Pain, and director Amy Hodge on The Rover, Mother Courage & Her Children, and Monsieur Linh & His Child, due to go into R&D in Spring 2021 in collaboration with writer Jude Christian.
Raquel is currently Dancer in Residence at Arnolfini 2021, and was awarded a 2020 PMStudio Future Themes grant to explore ‘Crip Tech & New Modes of Togetherness’.
