About the Creative Team
Lost Dog Associate Artists are our long term creative collaborators whom are key to the work that we make.
Associate Artist: Jackie Shemesh
Jackie Shemesh designs lighting for dance, theatre and visual art. He has collaborated with Ben Duke and Lost Dog for more then a decade, designing most of their works.
He has worked with many dance organisations such as the Batsheva Ensemble, Rambert, Ballet Boys, Scottish Dance Theatre, Dorky Park (Berlin), National Welsh Dance, Candoco Dance and Protein Dance. Other choreographers include Stephanie Schober, Jamila Johnson-Small, Eva Recacha, Nigel Charnock, Hetain Patel, Arthur Pita, Alexander Whitley and more.
Theatre credits: ‘Ramayana’ for the Lyric Hammersmith, ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ for Peepolykus and Neal Street Productions, ‘Vanya’ and ‘Mary Stuart’ (Rob Icke) for Almeida Theatre. ‘As You Like It’ ‘The Return of Ulysses’ and ‘What we did to Weinstein’ for Tim Supple. ‘The Penal Colony’, ‘Man’, ‘Oh My Sweet Land’ for Young Vic Theatre. ‘Islands’ and ‘The Beloved’ for the Bush Theatre.
Other collaborations include’ Recital for Cathy’ and ‘From Canyons to Stars’ for the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra. ‘JRMiP’ Hebbel Theatre and ‘What If Women Ruled The Word’ MIF initiated by artist Yael Bartana (Berlin). Associate Artist: Raquel Meseguer
Raquel is co-founder of Lost Dog. Raquel trained at London Contemporary Dance School and performed with Punchdrunk, Tilted Co & Stan Won’t Dance. As well as her work with Lost Dog, Raquel has co-delivered projects for Punchdrunk (The Uncommercial Traveller & The Black Diamond), and has collaborated with theatre maker Amy Hodge (The Rover & 7-75) and Rachel Bagshaw (The Shape of The Pain). In 2015 Raquel formed Unchartered Collective to make work that explores the complexity of living with a Hidden Condition. She is currently directing ‘Someone Should Start Laughing’ & ‘A Crash Course in Cloudspotting’ for the collective. She was a South East Dance Research Associate 2017 and an Unlimited Commissioned Artist 2017 (R&D).

Other Team Members
Solène Weinachter- Performer
Solène’s dance journey started on her kitchen floor and took her to The Place in London where she graduated with a BA(hons) and an MA in contemporary dance and performance. From 2007 to 2012 she danced with Scottish Dance Theatre where she first worked with Ben Duke in “The life and time of girl A’. Solène joined Lost Dog as a freelance dancer in 2012. She also worked with Gecko, Troubleyn and is currently dancing with Vera Tussing and Joan Cleville Dance.
In parallel, Solène has co-created since 2010 a collective with Glasgow based music artist Jer Reid.
Emily Smith – Producer
Emily studied Dance & Culture at the University of Surrey and trained at London Contemporary Dance School. She went on to work in the Artist Development and Theatre department at The Place as JUICE editor and Projects Assistant for Spring Loaded and The Place Prize 2008. Emily joined Hofesh Shechter Company in 2008 as Projects Manager working on Uprising/In your rooms, The Art of Not Looking Back, Political Mother, The Choreographer’s Cut and delivering the company’s extensive participation programme.
Emily ran away to the mountains in 2011 to do a ski-season before returning in 2012 to join Lost Dog since which time she has been Producer for the company, responsible for producing Home for Broken Turns, Like Rabbits and Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me).
Since 2012, Emily has also been working freelance with numerous other artists, companies and venues including Resolution! at The Place, Cohan at 90, Amy Hodge’s 7-75, Riccardo Buscarini’s No Lander, Hofesh Shechter Company’s Nomad Land and James Cousins Company Without Stars tour.
Tess Howell – Producer
Tess Howell has an extensive career history in the dance and the arts. Tess was Company Manager and education lead at Jasmin Vardimon Company from 2006 to 2010 during the creation and touring of Justitia and Yesterday. Between 2011 and 2013 Tess was General Manager of Vincent Dance Theatre working on the internationally acclaimed Motherland show and The Table website -a public resource for supporting artistic practice.
Tess has a Postgraduate Diploma in “The Use of the Arts in Therapeutic and Educational settings”. She is an accredited 5 Rhythms dance teacher and runs her own dance based leadership development initiative. In 2012 Tess won a Linbury Trust bursary for her work in dance to undertake the two week residential intensive Clore Arts Programme for up and coming cultural leaders.
Tess now works freelance as a Consultant and Manager for a host of artists and cultural organisations including Lost Dog, Ragroof Theatre, Gravity and Levity Aerial Dance, Eleesha Drennan Dance, Nocturne Dance and Avant Garde Dance.
